I had a black versace silk skirt -- calf length with a thigh high slit. I loved it and wore it every day. The silk and the cut made it the best skirt I ever owned. Guess that's why I'm still partial towards silk skirts. They look and feel totally luxurious. I wore it until I gained too much weight to fit into it.
Silk is expensive, no doubt. You also have to take special care not to ruin the fine fabric, so hand washing or dry cleaning a silk skirt is your best bet, but when you wear it, you will know it is worth the trouble and investment. It looks and feels gorgeous.
